If you want a better UFT – we need your help.

MORE is launching a campaign for a stronger union in the spring UFT elections.

We need a union leadership that will fight for the public schools we all deserve.
We need a union leadership that is responsive to its members.
We need a union leadership who will fight the politicians’ and corporations’ efforts  to shut down our schools, take away our benefits, and reduce our children’s education to test scores.

But running against UFT President Mulgrew and his Unity Caucus, who have been in power for 50 years, is an expensive proposition. We need funds to advertise on social media, get out the vote, produce election literature and distribute it to the members of the largest teachers union in this country.

You can help this holiday season by joining MORE and making a donation.

  • Even better, become a MORE monthly sustainer. Your monthly contribution of $10, $20, $50 or more will help to keep our movement thriving.

  • If you are interested in making a contribution over $150 you can make a tax-deductible donation to MORE’s educational efforts by sending a check made out to the “Labor Education and Research Project,” with New York City Educators Defense Fund in the subject line.  Please send checks care of Labor Notes, 104 Montgomery St, Brooklyn, NY 11225

Finally, mark your calendars for our holiday party with NYCORE and Change the Stakes in the evening Saturday, December, 19th. We’ll release tickets soon, so be sure to get one quickly, and even buy some extra for friends. You won’t want to miss out on the great food, drinks, dancing, and fun!

On behalf of everyone at MORE, we want to wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season. We look forward to seeing you onDecember 19th, and throughout the busy season coming up.

PS: Please take 10 minutes to take a short, anonymous survey about your own working and learning conditions at this link. MORE will work to compile the results of this survey in a report that will guide MORE’s campaign in the 2016 UFT elections, and inform policy debates in the media, government, and our union. If you are interested in collaborating on this grassroots research effort, please get in touch.  And share the survey with your friends and colleagues!
